Ex Toyota TME Turkey President Levent Turk and Creator of BTFA, David Bovis

Partner Levent Turk

Levent has over 30 years of hands-on, senior leader experience at TOYOTA, MAN, VW, Karsan, and Alstom., holding various positions including COO, Board member, and Director. At Toyota for 16 years in Japan, Turkey and Europe, Levent was GM of Production and Quality ahead of his appointment as Engineering and Purchasing Director, ultimately becoming Toyota 'TME Turkey' President. Double degree qualified with an MBA, Levent speaks 5 languages including fluent Japanese. Beyond Toyota, he has undertaken management roles in numerous turnarounds and transformations, acquiring best practice methods from some of the top performing OEMs in the world. He has strong expertise in designing, planning, implementing, and managing efficient and flexible operations. His approach to performance improvement is based on sustainable operational excellence through cultural development. Levent learned the Toyota Production System in Toyota Japan and implemented it in detail at established and greenfield European Toyota Plants. Using the knowledge gained, Levent has since managed two successive Lean Transformations at automotive OEM’s Karsan and MAN. In recent years Levent has run his own consulting, advisory and implementation practice, joining forces with Duxinaroe, as an equal shareholder in 2020. Levent is currently advisor to the board at Toyota Boshoku Sewtech, Ecoplas and CLAAS Tractors. Levent published his first book ‘Operational Excellence and Respect’ in 2020 and is now leading the project to convert 'The Dux Method' and his own approach into the on-line training courses you can find here, at the Dux Academy.

Partner David Bovis

David has more than 30 years of industry and advisory experience supporting change initiatives from shop-floor to boardroom across Europe in organisations such as SMITHS, Bombardier, GEA, CNH, Aryzta, Yorkshire Water, AIRBUS and GKN. He has studied extensively to establish a deep understanding of the psychology and neuroscience required to affect a continuous improvement culture, culminating in models he has introduced to a range of organisations, affecting practical change. Results include reversing significant profit-drop and 'turnaround to profit', from loss making positions. The Dux Method, is the advanced approach to Leadership and organisational performance improvement he evolved over a 30 year career. Influence came from East and West manufacturing history, the evolution of Leadership 'best-practice', Eastern and Western philosophy, and psychology, ahead of the inclusion of the latest advances in neuroscience. This ‘neuroscience of change’ approach is now being introduced to a broad client base, at scale via this online course. An example of a global organisation whose transformation team have integrated the #BTFA model into every step of their change programme, with the support of their Global VP of transformation, ('ex Philips BV', Philip Holt), is GKN Aerospace. In recent years, David has presented his ideas and models to the AME (Association of Manufacturing Excellence), The World Manufacturing Forum and sits on the advisory board to two innovative leadership development projects, one focused on the use of advanced technology and the other focused on transformational leadership in the legal arena.

Revolutionising Change

by Robert Camp - Senior Lean Coach, State of Arizona

What distinguishes David from others, is that he has applied his brilliance in practical ways that are revolutionizing the way people think about change. I’ve spent 30 years in the field of change. 99% of the consultants in that field make programs and tools their first step. That methodology fails. Instead, David starts in the minds of the leaders. He teaches them how their thoughts and subsequent actions actually determine the success or failure of the change they undertake. Through a series of stimulating trainings, David causes leaders of all stripes to examine where they want to go, and to prepare their thought process to arrive there successfully. I understand that my recommendation lacks all the “he did this, and then he did that, and we’re a success as a result.” That’s not David’s approach. It would be more accurate to say: “David caused me to look behind my thoughts and behaviour, to align them with the objectives I’d set.” David won’t take credit for your success, but he can sure help you to make yourself successful.

The next step forward in the world of change

by Randy Schenkat - former work colleague to Dr. William.E.Deming. Author of Quality Connections, Winona (MN) council for quality.

“I worked directly with W.E. Deming on his 'System of Profound Knowledge', David Bovis, has found and detailed what Dr Deming was looking for before he passed away. This is exceptional and the next step forward in the world of organisational Change”

A Thought Through and Thoughtful Approach.

by Tim Otter - Ex Global Defence Business Development VP, Chairman of NBC and CBRNUK, now CEO, leading a multi-disciplinary consultancy

In more than 20 years of working with David as a colleague and an adviser, he has always impressed as a thoughtful and thinking leader. His DUX approach of getting people to understand WHERE they are going WHY they are going there HOW they are going to get there and WHY they need to work in a certain way to get there is very effective. It breeds trust and effectiveness. No more so than in the Business Development and Sales arenas. Getting people to think for themselves and work effectively and to a purpose rather than rushing around selling things is a good return on effort and resources, resulting in long term benefits for both sides.

Having your eyes opened for good

by Karl Robinson - International procurement lead in the aerospace industry

After so many years of research and learning, David has produced a package that helps us understand, and explain our behaviour in the workplace. Not only does it open our eyes to a new dimension, it helps us realise that all wastes generated by business start with the brain activity that precedes behaviour. We learn that, like an iceberg, what's under the surface (our subconscious thought) is more dominant than what we think we are controlling (our conscious thought). This learning enables us to see our businesses in a new light. We come to understand why certain management styles are more effective, and how to harness the power of psychology to change a business, it's culture, it's performance and it’s results. It is the bit we've been missing. This is the most powerful learning I have ever done. Once you've had your eyes opened, you can never go back to seeing things how you did before.” Karl Robinson, MCIPS

The Key

by Mark Hurst - former Global Transformation Lead at Hewlett Packard and Global Problem Management Capability Leader at DXC Technology

I'm loving what you are doing at the moment; I think it is THE key element that needs to be addressed in many aspects of life.

I wouldn't have believed what was possible

by Paul Lyons - former Managing Director of Eurofilter, now MD of 'Delivered Strategy'

"We had made losses for 5 years prior to engaging Duxinaroe. The in-year benefits that followed, included 63% EBITDA improvement, 7.5% Sales increase, a massive service level improvement taking us to 98% OTD, 33% stock reduction, reduced floor space, downtime removal, cost downs and wholesale culture change. These can all be attributed to the course Duxinaroe delivered at the end of 2008. It provided Eurofilter the change a number of extensive and expensive 'Lean Six Sigma' implementation efforts failed to deliver over the preceding 6-7 years, it helped us see beyond the tools and process and understand what really makes an organisation work! If I had tried to tell me what was possible before we worked with Duxinaroe, I wouldn't have believed me."

Successful, sustainable change

by Jim Longton - former senior executive MD/CEO of several large international manufacturing companies in the UK, USA, Portugal and South Africa

For change to take place you need receptive minds. You need minds that are open to new ideas and new possibilities. The work David has done over the past ten years or so has developed the Dux Method. The Dux Method combines many years of practical ‘hands on experience’ with psychology and neuroscience to provide an engaging programme, designed to achieve meaningful, sustainable change, in the behaviour and attitude of people in the organisation. Success or failure is a consequence of Behaviour and Attitude. I am convinced The Dux Method will lead to success.

Advanced leadership for the 21st century
